# Time limit exceeded or transaction expired: is the payment lost?

**The payment is not lost.** If your customer sent their funds, even after the displayed time limit, the transaction will be validated: your tablet, app or terminal **updates automatically** as soon as the payment is received.

The time before expiry is not the same for all payment methods. The countdown displayed on the customer's page shows the time remaining.

### What to do

Ask your customer whether they have already sent their funds.

| Customer's answer     | What to do                                                                                                                                                                            |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Yes, they sent it** | **Whatever you do, don't recreate a transaction**: your customer's money has gone. **Wait**: your device will display "Payment validated" automatically when the payment is received. |
| **No, nothing sent** | You can **recreate a transaction**: cancel this one with the arrow at the top left, then **generate a new QR code**. |

{% hint style="info" %}
For a transaction that won't be completed (a test, a customer who gives up): cancel it with the arrow at the top left rather than letting it expire.
{% endhint %}

### If nothing gets validated

If your customer has sent their funds and your device still shows nothing after 10 minutes, look at their payment page (a message may be displayed there), then [contact Lyzi](/en/faq/support/comment-contacter-le-support-lyzi.md) with the transaction short code.

### What you can tell your customer

> "Your payment isn't lost. A payment sent after the time limit can still be validated. Let's wait for the confirmation on the tablet."

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.lyzi.io/en/faq/problemes-de-paiement/delai-depasse-ou-transaction-expiree-le-paiement-est-il-perdu.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
